This work is a first attempt to chart a path to joy in the workplace.
The
direction as drawn out includes four important steps. One
is to identify and use a small group of peers as a social support network
to help you in this quest. Second is to use methods and
skills to deal with co-workers. Third is to develop strategies
for personal motivation. Fourth, and of equal importance,
is to use ideas to improve the working environment. One major assumption
underlies what we present here and that is that you, not your boss or
your co-workers, are responsible for your happiness at work. Joy at work
is designed to help you use skills and strategies to develop personal
responsibility for self-care and to help you maintain that attitude on
a day-to-day basis.
